Vigilent and Section 508
Vigilent is committed to meeting accessibility goals throughout its product line, and supports Federal Regulation Section 508 in order to make IT products and services easily accessible to all, and especially addressing the needs of those with disabilities.
Vigilent believes that Section 508 an important goal not only for those with disabilities, but for all users. This requirement reinforces best practices to which our company has long been committed, and we consider accessibility throughout our product design.
Section 508
Congress amended the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 in 1998 to require Federal agencies to make their information technology accessible to people with disabilities, with the goal of removing barriers to access this technology. Section 508 applies to all Federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain or use information technology, requiring they provide disabled individuals with access that is comparable to that available to all others.
The law does not regulate the technology industry nor does it require companies to make changes to their products; however, many of its requirements are simply good product design and establish benchmarks that we believe are important to strive for.
Committed to Accessibility
We understand that our government customers and all of those to whom we sell must conform to the requirements of Section 508 of the United States Rehabilitation Act, and we work to develop products and services which deliver accessibility for all of our customers. We believe our commitment to these goals will assist government agencies, and all users, to make accessible choices in their technology purchases.
