Japan’s Ministry of the Environment recently honored NTT Facilities with the Environment Minister’s Award for Global Warming Prevention Activity because of how it reduced the amount of power being used in its data centers. NTT Facilities was able to achieve this reduction through the dynamic cooling management technology delivered by its Vigilent SmartDASH system.
Starting with its initial SmartDASH deployments in 2010, NTT uses Vigilent technology to control more than 6,600 air conditioners achieving consistent power consumption reductions averaging 32%. Since launching, SmartDASH saved NTT a cumulative 281,733-megawatt hours, or an emissions reduction of 160,000 tons of CO2.
The Environment Minister’s Award for Global Warming Prevention Activity has been bestowed by the Ministry of the Environment since 1998, as part of its efforts to promote global warming countermeasures, recognizing organizations and individuals which have made a notable contribution to the prevention of global warming.
