Vigilent system provides cooling cost and carbon emission reduction while improving reliability for data centers and telecommunications facilities
OAKLAND, CA (April 8, 2014) Vigilent® today announced its expansion to the European market with the opening of Vigilent Europe Limited, a UK-based subsidiary offering regional sales and support for its Dynamic Cooling Management® system. The new office will bring the Vigilent system to data centers and telecommunications facilities in EMEA markets challenged by high energy costs.
“Growing demand from mission critical facilities seeking reduced operational costs and increased reliability made the timing right for us to establish a dedicated European headquarters,” said Vigilent CEO Dave Hudson. “Our new regional presence makes Vigilent more accessible and better positions us to support customers in this important market.”
The Vigilent EMEA office is managed by John Taylor, who previously served as market development director for Equinix Europe. At Equinix, Taylor worked extensively with major European telecoms firms to support their global expansion and helped to shape the company’s engagement with global, regional and local service providers across the EMEA region. He brings more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience to the role, as well as a passion for the development of efficient, interconnected systems that can intelligently do more, with less.
The Vigilent system dynamically and automatically matches facility cooling to IT load in real-time, ensuring that cooling is delivered reliably and cost-effectively. Typical deployments achieve an immediate 40 percent reduction in cooling energy, reducing overall PUE figures by 5 to 10 percent.
The Vigilent system is equipment and infrastructure agnostic, making it particularly effective for companies seeking to optimize efficiency in mixed environments that contain a variety of different cooling technologies. Vigilent analytics quantify available capacity and visually identify areas of potential risk, enabling operators to more fully and confidently leverage existing facilities to boost revenue and profit.
“The opposing requirements for operational cost reduction and uptime reliability are driving increasing use of sophisticated software-driven systems like Vigilent to monitor and control critical data center functions for the maximum cost efficiency,” said Andy Lawrence, Vice President, Datacenter Technologies (DCT) and Eco-Efficient IT, 451 Research. “This becomes increasingly important in higher energy cost and regulation-bound areas like Europe.”
